Dedicated to the welfare and advancement of oil and gas workers in Sarawak
The formation of the Sarawak Oil and Gas Workers Association (SOGWA) began with extensive discussions in a WhatsApp group in early 2017. The numerous issues faced by oil and gas industry workers - unpaid wages, deception by energy supply companies, and various ongoing problems - raised awareness among industry workers about the need for an association to protect their rights.
On June 17, 2017, the first meeting was held to form a founding committee consisting of 8 members. Driven by responsibility and concern for the issues faced by oil and gas industry workers in Sarawak, SOGWA was established with the aim of protecting the welfare of oil and gas industry workers on land or offshore, specifically in Sarawak.
